So it’s a couple of weeks before you are going away on your lush yoga retreat!
You’ve started to think about what to pack. This can be a bit tricky, especially if you have never been on a yoga retreat before…these are my best tips on what to pack.
THINK YOGA CLOTHES
Not to state the obvious but on yoga retreat you are going to need quite a lot of yoga clothes. Normally there is at least one yoga practice a day and often two. There is nothing worse than having to re-wear sweaty leggings! So make sure that you pack enough to last you. If you are coming away on a luul wellness break there is usually a dynamic practice in the morning and a calm restorative practice in the evening (so you can always re-use your evening clothes as we don’t move and sweat in this practice).
My top tip is to always check in with either the retreat venue or your retreat leader if there is a washing service. It’s a bonus if there is as you can always take less and get your stuff washed when you are there.
When you are not yoga-ing the choice is yours! Are you more someone who likes to chill and read a book or do you like more activity?! Pack whatever fits with your personality. Either more loungy-comfortable clothes or clothes to suit your favourite activity, for example, more sportswear or trainers if you are planning on taking long walks. Remember this is your retreat (how often do you get to do exactly what you want to do?!).
Whenever you go on retreat (well with luul anyway!) there is always some water involved!! Pool, wild swimming, lakes, sea, or for the more wintery retreats a Swedish hot tub. So it’s always essential to pack your costume/bikini! Flip-flops and cover-ups are super helpful. For summery yoga retreats don’t forget your hat and sun cream!
The thing I love about yoga retreats is that everyone comes dressed exactly as they want to supper! Some women will decide to stay in their yoga leggings, others will be super casual – jeans, no makeup, whilst some women love to dress up and put lipstick on. Whatever goes and variety is the spice of life. That’s why I love being on women-only yoga retreats! Whatever goes and women feel comfortable showing up exactly as themselves. So, just pack whatever you feel your best in! I am always super casual (my idea of dressing up is anything other than yoga leggings!).
If like me, you never get the chance to read at home, a yoga retreat can be the perfect time to get stuck into a book. So don’t forget to pack your favourite novel!!!
