A little Christmas treat…
Christmas is without a doubt the best time of the year to get glammed up and pull all those sequins out the back of your cupboard.
We have teamed up with our most stylish Luul retreat ambassador, Karen Francis (seriously, I have never had such envy over anyone’s wardrobe than this glamour puss).
She has shared her Ultimate ‘User Friendly’ Style guide for Dec 2024 and beyond (all her recco’s would also go down an absolute treat at our upcoming Cotswolds Yoga retreat…).
The Jumper
Ok, let’s cut to the chase. It’s winter, so it’s cashmere – lots of it. It feels luxurious against your skin, you can wear it with jeans, over a silk slip dress, under ski gear – but it can also be expensive. I get mine from Uniqlo Men’s department and have done for years. It lasts, they have a great assortment of colours (I have one in light grey, charcoal grey, navy, honey beige – don’t go with black or white, too harsh) and are also £89.99. I wear men’s size small and they fit perfectly. Tres chic with a slick of red lipstick. Tres French. Tres simple. Tres don’t need to wash it for ages.
The Dress
Chocolate brown is still having a moment (thank you Kim Kardashian, I think?!) and I have this dress from the Sienna Miller x M&S collection. I wore it in Marrakech during the day with a denim shirt tied in a knot but it would work superbly with a cashmere jumper from Uniqlo and I fully intend to do exactly that when I’m back from my travels. I love the slip dress/cashmere look. It’s so lux.
The Shoes
Like less spenny versions of Churches classics, these chunky Albane loafers from Sezane are on my hit list for when I get back. Part cool Parisian / part my old high school German teacher (RIP Mr. Cairns!) these burgundy coloured ones will go well with any shade of denim or ankle skimming black trousers.
The Jeans
The Sienna Miller x M&S collaboration is just a bit amazing, isn’t it? It took me ages to get into the barrel jeans trend but my charcoal grey ones from this collection are showstoppers (I’m asked every time I’m wearing them where they are from). They sell out immediately so keep your eyes peeled!
If you missed out on Sienna’s barrel jeans from M&S then Zara’s Marine jeans are also lovely. Supremely high waisted, wide legged and the blackest of black – they also make your backside look rather good too. I wish I got mine a size smaller so maybe size down, although I am rather ‘generous’ in that area…
The Coat
Ok, I’ve saved the spenny for second last (I’m going to leave you on a cosy note) – but my goodness isn’t she a beaut? The Wiggy Kit Mercer coat. I know what you’re thinking: it’s a leopard print coat – but plot twist – it’s cheetah print. A cool update on a classic look and it works. It works so much, its basically almost sold out. I’ve seen these coats pop up in fashion magazines and I’m not surprised to see that everyone loves them. Yes, it is spenny but Wiggy doesn’t do fast fashion and the quality will be second to none. Her sizing is generous so size down and if you can’t get the size you want, head to the ‘notify me’. These are bound to have a second run.
The Cosy
Finally, cosy times call for cosy toes and my favourite slippers from A Small Home. So lovely, so warm and so comfortable – from a British brand just celebrating their second pop up at Peter Jones. Enough said…
